Preferred Label : Antigen-presenting Cells-expressing HPV16 E6/E7/CD86/mbIL-2/mbIL-12 SQZ-eAPC-HPV;
NCIt synonyms : APCs-expressing HPV16 E6/E7/CD86/mbIL-2/mbIL-12 SQZ-eAPC-HPV;
NCIt definition : A preparation of antigen presenting cells (APCs) specific for human papillomavirus
(HPV) type 16 E6 and E7 proteins, and engineered to express the costimulatory molecule
CD86 and the membrane-bound cytokines interleukin-2 (mbIL-2) and interleukin-12 (mbIL-12),
with potential immunomodulating and antineoplastic activities. Autologous peripheral
blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) are ex vivo engineered with five mRNA encoding for
HPV 16 E6/E7 antigens, CD86, mbIL-2 and mbIL-12; the resulting APCs present the antigens
in a major histocompatibility type I (MHC-I) manner. Upon administration of the APCs-expressing
HPV16 E6/E7/CD86/mbIL-2/mbIL-12 SQZ-eAPC-HPV, these cells activate the immune system
to mount a cytotoxic T-lymphocyte (CTL) immune response against tumor cells expressing
HPV16 E6 and E7. The costimulatory molecule CD86 and the cytokines mbIL-2 and mbIL-12
further activate the immune system by promoting the secretion of interferon-gamma
(IFNg), activating natural killer cells (NKs), and inducing CTL responses, further
killing tumor cells. HPV16 E6 and E7 play an important role in the development of
certain types of cancer.;
