NCIt definition : A muscle group in the hand that controls radial extension and abduction or deviation of the wrist; either the extensor carpi radialis brevis muscle, which originates at the lateral epicondyle of the humerus and inserts at the third metacarpal bone, or the extensor carpi radialis longus muscle, which originates at the lateral supracondylar ridge of the humerus and inserts at the back base of the second metacarpal bone.;
