Upon topical application to the affected site(s), the cPLA2 inhibiting silicone-based gel AVX001 binds to and inhibits the activity of cPLA2alpha. This may inhibit cPLA2alpha-mediated inflammation. cPLA2alpha catalyzes the release of arachidonic acid from glycerophospholipids and plays a key role in various inflammatory diseases. It is overexpressed in certain cancer cells and may play a key role in proliferation, migration, and chemo-resistance.;
