NCIt definition : A humanized monoclonal antibody directed against human plectin (plectin-1; plectin
1), with potential antineoplastic activity. Upon administration, ibentatug specifically
binds to plectin expressed on the cell surface of cancer cells, thereby activating
the immune system to induce an anti-tumor T-cell response against plectin-expressing
cancer cells and inducing apoptosis in these cancer cells. Plectin, a pro-tumorigenic
protein, is normally found inside the cytoplasm of healthy cells but is only selectively
expressed on the cell surface of various cancer cells. Cancer-specific plectin (CSP),
also known as cell surface plectin-1 (CSP1), plays an important role in cancer cell
proliferation, migration and invasion.;
