NCIt definition : A human immunoglobulin G1 kappa (IgG1k) monoclonal antibody that targets the cell
surface glycoprotein CD38, with potential antineoplastic activity. Although the exact
mechanisms(s) through which this agent exerts its effects have yet to be fully elucidated,
upon administration, anti-CD38 monoclonal antibody SG301 targets and binds to CD38
on CD38-positive tumor cells. This may trigger, in addition to other possible responses,
antitumoral antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC) and may eventually lead
to cell lysis in CD38-expressing tumor cells. CD38, a type II transmembrane glycoprotein,
is present on various immune cells and hematologic malignancies; its expression has
been correlated with poor prognosis.;
