NCIt definition : A heterodimeric fusion protein comprised of the extracellular portions of human interleukin
(IL)-1 receptor type 1 (IL-1R1) and IL-1 receptor accessory protein (IL-1RAcP) linked
to a mutant Fc portion of human immunoglobulin G1 (IgG1), with potential anti-inflammatory
activity. Upon administration, goflikicept targets and binds to the proinflammatory
cytokine IL-1 beta (IL-1b) and prevents the binding of IL-1b to the IL-1 receptor.
This inhibits IL-1b-mediated signaling pathways, and suppresses inflammatory responses
mediated by IL-1b. IL-1b plays a key role in inflammation, which is present in various
disease states.;
