NCIt definition : A species of aerobic, Gram-negative, rod shaped bacteria assigned to the genus Burkholderia, phylum Proteobacteria, and family Burkholderiaceae. It is a member of the non-taxonomic grouping of non-spore forming and motile bacterial species called the Burkholderia cepacia Complex. B. anthina has been isolated from soil, water, the rhizosphere, and the hospital environment. It is pathogenic in humans and is associated with cystic fibrosis and other conditions.;
