Score (NEWS), which is a weighted scoring system for six routinely monitored vital
sign parameters, including respiration rate, oxygen saturation, systolic blood pressure,
pulse rate, level of consciousness, and temperature, to standardize the assessment
and response to acute illness. NEWS2 includes several modifications to the vital sign
weightings and a new SpO2 scoring scale for patients at risk of type II respiratory
