Preferred Label : Otilimab;
NCIt synonyms : Immunoglobulin G1, Anti-(Human Granulocyte-Macrophage Colony-stimulating Factor) (Human
Monoclonal GSK3196165 Heavy Chain), Disulfide with Human Monoclonal GSK3196165 Lambda-chain,
Dimer;
NCIt definition : A fully human monoclonal antibody directed against the inflammatory mediator granulocyte-macrophage
colony stimulating factor (GM-CSF), with potential immunomodulating activity. Upon
administration, otilimab targets, binds to and neutralizes GM-CSF. This prevents the
binding of GM-CSF to its targeted inflammatory cells, and prevents proliferation and
activation of various immune cells, and subsequent release of cytokines and B- and
T-cell responses. GM-CSF, a monomeric glycoprotein functioning as a cytokine promoting
both proliferation and activation of macrophages and neutrophils. GM-CSF levels are
elevated in certain immune-mediated diseases. It increases the production of pro-inflammatory
mediators, such as cytokines, chemokines and proteases.;
