NCIt definition : The ratio (for a given time period) of the number of occurrences of a disease or event to the number of units at risk in the population.;

Alternative definition : CDISC-GLOSS: The number of the existing cases of disease or injury in a defined population at a given point in time. NOTE: The relation between incidence and prevalence varies among diseases.
