NCIt definition : A term that refers to the staging of eyelid carcinoma according to the American Joint Committee on Cancer, 8th edition. This staging system applies to all primary carcinomas of the eyelid, including basal cell carcinoma (BCC), squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), sebaceous carcinoma, and other rare carcinomas, such as all varieties of sweat gland carcinoma (e.g., eccrine carcinoma). It does not apply to carcinomas of the head and neck with direct extension to eyelid (are staged according to the cutaneous squamous cell carcinomas of the head and neck), Merkel cell carcinomas of the eyelid (are staged according to the classification for Merkel cell carcinomas), and melanomas of the eyelid (are staged according to the classification for melanomas of the skin).
