NCIt definition : A species of Gram-positive, aerobic, bacillus-shaped, endospore-forming bacteria in the phylum Firmicutes. This species is negative for urease, tryptophan deaminase, and hydrolysis of gelatin. It is positive for sole carbon use with glucose, mannitol, sucrose, glycogen, and several others. The type strain was isolated from surfaces of the Payload Hazardous Servicing Facility located at the Kennedy Space Center where the Phoenix lander was assembled.;
