NCIt definition : A recombinant monoclonal antibody against human epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR)
with potential antineoplastic activity. Upon administration, anti-EGFR monoclonal
antibody SCT200 targets EGFR, prevents the activation and subsequent dimerization
of this receptor and inhibits both EGFR-mediated signal transduction and cellular
proliferation of EGFR-expressing tumor cells. In addition, SCT200 may induce antibody-dependent
cell-mediated cytotoxicity (ADCC) against EGFR-expressing tumor cells. EGFR, a member
of the epidermal growth factor receptor family, is overexpressed on the cell surfaces
of various solid tumors.;
