NCIt definition : A fusion gene that results from a chromosomal translocation t(3;21)(q28;q22) which
fuses either the 5' untranslated region or the 5' end including exons 1 and 2 of the
TMPRSS2 gene with exon 2 of the ETV5 gene. This rearrangement is associated with prostate
carcinoma and androgen-dependent expression of this fusion gene results in overexpression
of ETS translocation variant 5 protein activity.;
NCIt note : Fusion proteins may be expressed if exon 2 of the TMPRSS2 gene is present.;
