LOINC description : The Sedation Scale measures the behaviors and physiologic signs associated with sedation
in the neonate. Sedation level is scored from negative two to zero for each behavioral
and physiologic criteria, then summed and noted as a negative score. Sedation is mainly
assessed during routine care or procedures, as most items assess response to stimulation.
Note that a Sedation Scale negative score without administration of opioids/sedatives
could indicate prolonged pain or stress response in the premature infant, or neurologic
depression, sepsis, or other pathology in the neonate.;
