LOINC display name : Triglyceride corrected for glycerol (S) [Mass/Vol];
LOINC long common name : Triglyceride [Mass/volume] corrected for glycerol in Serum;
LOINC short name : Trigl Glycer cor Ser-mCnc;
LOINC description : Used to differentiate true hypertriglyceridemia from pseudohypertriglyceridemia. Triglyceride
is normally measured by hydrolyzing triglycerides and measuring the amount of glycerol,
but in certain conditions such as glycerol kinase deficiency, free glycerol is significantly
elevated, which causes triglyceride to appear falsely elevated. In this assay, free
glycerol is removed prior to hydrolysis, so that the glycerol measurement after hydrolysis
is a true representation of the triglyceride measurement.;
