LOINC long common name : Lactobacillus crispatus gasseri jensenii Gardnerella vaginalis Atopobium vaginae
rRNA [Presence] in Vaginal fluid by NAA with probe detection;
LOINC short name : BV bacteria rRNA Vag Ql NAA probe;
LOINC description : Qualitative result for bacterial vaginosis (BV) based on the detection and quantitation
of ribosomal RNA from bacteria associated with bacterial vaginosis (BV), including
Lactobacillus (L. gasseri, L. crispatus, and L. jensenii), Gardnerella vaginalis,
and Atopobium vaginae. This term is used to report a qualitative result for BV and
does not report results for individual organisms. It is intended to aid in the diagnosis
of BV. This term was created for, but not limited in use to, the Hologic Aptima BV
assay, which detects the bacteria associated with BV on vaginal swab specimens from
females with a clinical presentation consistent with vaginitis and/or vaginosis.;
