LOINC description : The ventilatory threshold (VT) is the intensity of exercise at which the production of carbon dioxide and consequent increase in ventilation, both of which are related to the production of lactate during exercise, become disproportionately higher than oxygen consumption (VO2). The VT usually occurs at about 60-70% of maximum oxygen consumption. Both VT and maximum VO2 are predictors of mortality in patients with congestive heart failure. [PMID: 21977155] The specific method used to calculate the VT should be reported along with the result.;
