LOINC description : The corticotropin releasing hormone (CRH) stimulation test is used to evaluate the hypothalamic-pituitary axis and help diagnose adrenocorticotrophic hormone (ACTH or corticotropin) dependent Cushing's disease. CRH stimulation cannot distinguish between Cushing's and pseudo-Cushing's. During this procedure, baseline cortisol measurements are taken followed by administration of 1 ug/kg of CRH, after which cortisol is measured again at timed intervals. In patients with Cushing's, cortisol concentrations at 30 and 45 minutes post CRH administration should be at least 20% higher than the mean baseline value.[NCBI Books: NBK278940] The timing for baseline and post-CRH cortisol measurements vary depending on local protocol. ACTH levels may also be measured [LOINC: 91707-0] as part of a CRH stimulation test.;
