LOINC description : The Timed Up-and-Go (TUG) measure is the time elapsed from a patient standing up from a chair, walking to a line on the floor 10 feet (or 3 meters) away at their normal pace, turning, walking back to the chair at their normal pace, and sitting down again. Adults who do not have challenges with balance are found to complete this test in under 10 s, whereas those dependent in activities of daily living and mobility skills took more than 30 seconds according to the Barthel Index.[PMID: 14258950] The TUG, also called Timed Get-Up and Go (TGUG), is a modified version of the Get-Up and Go (GUG). TUG is timed whereas GUG is scored on an ordinal 5 point scale.[PMID: 1991946];
