LOINC description : Neutralization methods such as fluorescent focus neutralization (FFN) is used to confirm
positive Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome (PRRS) results found with screening
methods such as ELISA. It uses sample and control serums that are diluted and incubated
on the PRRSV infected cells followed by florescent microscopic examination for characteristic
patterns of fluorescent staining. Antibody can be detected in experimenally infected
pigs 7 to 10 days post inoculation. Serum samples are screened at a 1:20 dilution
to determine the presence or absence of the organism. (USDA).;
