LOINC description : This term is used to report the presence of Staph aureus strains with intermediate or heterogeneous glycopeptide resistance, called GISA and hGISA respectively. One method for differentiating GISA from hGISA is based on comparison of inhibitory concentration results for vancomycin plus teicoplanin [LOINC: 85045-3] with the result for vancomycin alone [LOINC: 7059-9]. This term was created for, but is not limited in use to, bioMerieux's ETEST GRD assay, which, when used together with a vancomycin susceptibility gradient strip, can differentiate between GISA and hGISA.;
