LOINC description : This term was created for the HepaScore liver fibrosis test, which is a marker of liver fibrosis in patients with hepatitis C infection. The score ranges from 0 to 1 and is calculated based on four lab tests (GGT, bilirubin, alpha-2-macroglobulin, and hyaluronic acid) plus the patient's age and gender. The HepaScore is reported with a central cut-off of 0.50, with a value 0.50 indicating that significant liver fibrosis is present (positive predictive value 88%) and a value 0.50 indicating that advanced fibrosis is absent (negative predictive value 95%) for patients with hepatitis C infection. The HepaScore logistic regression model is as follows: y exp[-4.185818 - (0.0249 x age) (0.7464 x sex) (1.0039 x α2-macroglobulin) (0.0302 x hyaluronic acid) (0.0691 x bilirubin) - (0.0012 x GGT)] with age provided in years, male sex 1, female sex 0, α2-macroglobulin in g/L, hyaluronate in μg/L, bilirubin in μmol/L, and GGT in U/L. The score itself is calculated as y/(1 y). [PMID: 16055434];
