LOINC status : ACTIVE;
LOINC display name : Prothrombin activity immediately after addition of factor II depleted plasma Coag
Qn (PPP);
LOINC long common name : Prothrombin activity [Units/volume] in Platelet poor plasma by Coagulation assay --immediately
after addition of factor II depleted plasma;
LOINC short name : Prothrom imm FII DP PPP-aCnc;
LOINC description : Tests for congenital or secondary deficiency of prothrombin (also called FII or factor
II) by measuring prothrombin activity in patient plasma using a modified prothrombin
time test (PT). Patient plasma is diluted and then added to a plasma deficient in
prothrombin. Correction of the clotting time of the deficient plasma is proportional
to the concentration (% activity) of that factor in the patient plasma, interpolated
from a calibration curve. Prothrombin is a vitamin-K dependent plasma protein made
in the liver and circulated in plasma. Congenital deficiency is very rare and usually
causes minor bleeding. Secondary disorders are liver diseases, hyperfibrinolysis,
disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC), oral anticoagulant therapy, or vitamin-K
deficiency. This term was created for, but not limited in use to, the HemolL Factor
II deficient plasma test kit. Results may be expressed in % activity, IU/ml, or seconds.;
