LOINC description : Identification of gram-negative (GN) bacterial targets and genetic markers of antibiotic resistance directly from positive blood cultures. Magnetic beads are used to capture nucleic acids followed by oligonucleotide probe detection of sequence of interest. Direct detection (non-PCR) based methods do not involve DNA amplification and therefore avoid amplification of contaminants. This panel was created for, but not limited in use to, Nanosphere's Verigene Gram-Negative Blood Culture test (BC-GN), which uses microarray analysis with probe to identify gram-negative bacteria, including Acinetobacter sp, Citrobacter sp, Enterobacter sp, Proteus sp, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Klebsiella oxytoca, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, as well as the six antibiotic resistance gene markers: CTX-M, KPC, NDM, VIM, IMP, OXA.;
