LOINC description : A questionnaire to assess eating disorders, including anorexia nervosa, which is a refusal to maintain normal weight, and bulimia nervosa characterized by episodes of binge eating followed by vomiting, use of laxatives, or fasting (American Psychiatric Association, 2000). This measure is used to screen an individual for the presence of an eating disorder. Eating disorders are more prevalent among women in industrialized nations and range from 0.5% for anorexia nervosa to 3% for bulimia nervosa. Eating disorders are accompanied by unhealthy attitudes about body shape and weight and co-occur with a number of other disorders including depression, obsessive compulsive disorders, anxiety disorders and personality disorders. Nutritional deficiencies associated with eating disorders can lead to renal failure, cardiovascular disease and menstrual problems (American Psychiatric Association, 2000).;
