LOINC description : Chromium levels are used to evaluate industrial toxicity, suspected toxicity, or in
conjuction with serum levels to detect chromium deficiency. Urine chromium levels
are correlated with glucose metabolism. Diabetic patients lose threefold more chromium
in the urine than nondiabetic patients. The main secretory pathway for chromium is
renal. Information from Jacobs and DeMott Laboratory Test Handbook, 5th edition, DS
