They typically take between two and four years to develop following initial infection. The skin appears mottled and atrophic with numerous irregular and variegated hypermelanotic, hypomelanotic and amelanotic patches typically involving the wrists, palms, ankles, and elbows, as well as the skin around and within old lesions.;
