ICD-11 definition : Focal myositis is an idiopathic inflammatory myopathy that appears clinically like
a muscular tumefaction that is solitary, painful, bleeds occasionally and is usually
located in the musculature of the lower limbs. Its rapid enlargement simulates that
of a soft tissue tumour. This disorder may remit spontaneously, remain focal and confined
to one limb for several years, or, in an unusual form of polymyositis, progress to
a more typical distribution after a few days or weeks.;
