ICD-11 definition : An infection of one or more peripheral nerves by bacteria, viruses, fungi, or parasites. The infection may involve the intraspinal or extraspinal part of the peripheral nerve. The clinical features depend on which peripheral nerve or nerves are affected. There may be other systemic signs and symptoms depending on the organism. Diagnosis is made by considering the clinical findings in the context of neuroimaging findings, spinal fluid analysis and culture, polymerase chain reaction tests, serologic tests, and biopsy where appropriate.;
