ICD-11 definition : Pemphigus vegetans is an uncommon form of pemphigus vulgaris. Onset occurs in middle
age. Autoantibodies directed against desmosome components, chiefly desmoglein 3, cause
intraepidermal clefting. The disease presents with superficial blistering usually
of the flexures evolving into vegetating masses which become which eventually become
dry, hyperkeratotic and fissured (Neumann type) or pustules that soon progress to
vegetating plaques (Hallopeau type). Oral lesions are always present.;
