ICD-11 definition : A congenital cardiovascular malformation in which one or more of the following encircle the trachea and esophagus: the aorta and its major branches, the pulmonary trunk and its major branches, and the arterial duct (ductus arteriosus) or their vascular remnant(s). The term vascular ring refers to a group of congenital vascular anomalies that encircle with the potential to compress the oesophagus and-or trachea. The compression may be from a complete anatomic ring (double aortic arch or right aortic arch with a left ligamentum) or from a compressive effect of an aberrant vessel (innominate artery compression syndrome).;
