ICD-11 definition : Hypomagnesemia caused by selective magnesium malabsorption or hypomagnesemic tetany is a form of familial primary hypomagnesemia characterized by very low serum magnesium (Mg2 ) levels and normal renal Mg2 excretion, associated with hypocalcemia. Patients usually present in the neonatal period and suffer from restlessness, tremor, tetany and overt seizures. It is a severe disorder, which, if left untreated, is fatal.;
