ICD-11 definition : Nephrogenic systemic fibrosis (NSF) is an iatrogenic systemic fibrosing disorder which
affects principally skin and joints and which is due to exposure of patients with
moderate to severe kidney failure to gadolinium-containing contrast agents. It manifests
with induration, thickening, and hardening of the skin, especially of the extremities,
and may be associated with joint contractures. Histopathologically there is a proliferation
of dermal fibroblasts and dendritic cells with deposition of collagen and mucin.;
