ICD-11 definition : Bacillary angiomatosis is a disease seen in immunosuppressed individuals due to proliferation of Bartonella species (Bartonella henselae and Bartonella quintana). It was initially described in persons infected with HIV. Skin involvement resembles Kaposi sarcoma. It can affect other organs including the respiratory tract, bone, lymph nodes, gastrointestinal tract, and brain. Liver involvement produces so-called bacillary peliosis or peliosis hepatis. Symptoms depend on the anatomical site involved and may include fever, tender lymphadenopathy, and skin lesions.;
