ICD-11 definition : Infection of skeletal muscle by pyogenic bacteria, most commonly Staphylococcus aureus but streptococci and gram negative organisms may also be responsible. Bacterial myosisitis is common in the tropics but occurs in temperate regions as well, principally in the immunocompromised. It usually presents as an acute abscess within skeletal muscle.;
