ICD-11 definition : Keratoglobus shows globular protrusion of the cornea and diffuse corneal thinning
most severe peripherally. There exists the congenital and the acquired form. The etiology
is unknown. However, associations between keratoglobus and disorders such as Ehlers-Danlos
type VI, Marfan syndrome, and the blue sclera syndrome indicate that the etiology
may result from defects in collagen synthesis. There is also an association to vernal
keratoconjunctivitis, dysthyroid ophthalmopathy, and chronic marginal blepharitis.;
