This disease may also present with oedema of the face, abdomen, or legs, vomiting, anorexia, or intestinal obstruction. Transmission is by ingestion of undercooked contaminated aquatic plants. Confirmation is by identification of Fasciolopsis buski eggs in a faecal sample.;
